ABOUT US

Sam's Collective isn't just an event—it's a movement, a community, and a space of inclusivity within the LGBTQ+ community. Rooted in a shared commitment to fostering safer spaces and advancing nightlife safety, Sam's Collective has swiftly emerged as a vibrant community cornerstone. It all began with a simple yet powerful vision: to cultivate an environment where individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations can freely express themselves and feel secure.

ORIGINS

Sam's Collective was sparked by the vision of Sam Stewart, who keenly observed the need for safer nightlife environments within the LGBTQ+ community in Dublin. Drawing from personal experiences and insights, Sam embarked on a mission to carve out spaces prioritizing inclusivity, respect, and safety. Starting small, the collective hosted gatherings in local venues that resonated with their values.

VALUES

At Sam's Collective, our core values underpin everything we do:

- Nightlife Safety: We champion the right of every individual to enjoy themselves safely. Through proactive measures and community engagement, we strive to cultivate environments where everyone can socialize and express themselves freely.

- Inclusivity: Diversity is our strength, and we celebrate the rich tapestry of identities within the LGBTQ+ & Neurodiverse community. Our spaces are designed to be welcoming and affirming for individuals of all backgrounds, ensuring everyone feels valued and respected.

- Empowerment: We believe in the transformative power of community. By providing resources, support, and opportunities for growth, we empower individuals to become agents of change in their own lives and communities.

- Education: Knowledge is pivotal in dismantling systemic barriers. We are committed to providing educational resources and fostering dialogue on issues of social justice, equity, and inclusion.

- Visibility: Progress hinges on visibility. We amplify the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ & Neurodiverse individuals, challenging stereotypes and advocating for greater representation across society.

PAST INITIATIVES

Sam’s Collective Secret Santa Campaign:

Sam's Collective Secret Santa Fund was a Christmas initiative the collective took in past years to assist members of our community by providing items they may have needed or wanted for Christmas!

How did it work? If individuals needed something such as clothes, underwear, binders, packers, pajamas, college supplies, work supplies, fidgets, sensory items, bicycles, scooters, etc., they filled out the Secret Santa Application in our bio. If others wished to help, they could head over to our Secret Santa wish list and choose an item they wished to gift or donate to the GoFundMe link provided.

Donations: Money donated to the GoFundMe link was put towards gifts that people had requested in an application, or towards a Christmas dinner for them. Physical donations could be made at any Sam’s Collective event. Interested individuals were encouraged to DM us to find out about all events for the month to see which suited them best.

We asked donors to only donate what was asked for or items that were on our list and to DM us for the list.

Sam’s Collective x We Consent:

In the past, Sam's Collective participated in a workshop organized by We-Consent, as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of healthier, happier, and safer relationships within our community. The workshop aimed to initiate a broader conversation about consent and its influence on our lives.

During the workshop, members of our collective community were invited to join in exploring key questions, such as:

- How can we reshape conversations about sex and relationships?

- What does consent mean, and how does it impact us?

- What skills are necessary for navigating these discussions with our loved ones and within ourselves?

The workshop provided a safe and supportive space for our community members to learn about consent, respect, and power dynamics. While encouraging participation and dialogue, the session emphasized positivity and inclusivity, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable expressing themselves.

Through engaging activities and group exercises, participants were encouraged to share their perspectives and experiences, fostering a sense of connection and understanding within the collective. It was an opportunity for us to come together, learn, and grow as a community committed to promoting consent and respect in all aspects of our lives.
